All companies, including Public Administration bodies, must have a system of organization for occupational risk prevention.

Depending on the number of workers or employees at a company and the work activities they typically carry out, there are different models of resource organization for the development of preventive activity.
These modalities or approaches are as follows:
1. The employer personally takes charge of preventive activity.
2. One or more of the company employees is designated to this role.
3. Establishment of a prevention service of its own.
4. Recruitment of a third-party prevention service

The employer personally takes charge of preventive activity
In both the extractive and granite making sectors, the high concentrations of siliceous dust produced do not allow development of this modality of organisational prevention.

One or more of the companies employees is designated to this role
The employer can assign one or more employees to take care of preventive activity at the company. Preventive activities for which the assignment of one or more workers is not sufficient should be carried out through either one or more of their own or external prevention services.

In the development of the preventive activity, assigned workers must have the relevent capacity corresponding to the functions that are to be performed as well as the appropiate means and the time needed.

In-house Prevention Service
The employer should establish a prevention service of its own when any of the following circumstances apply:
a) In the case of companies that have more than 500 employees.
b) In cases where there are between 250 and 500 employees and they carry out any of the activities included in Annex I (companies having the presence of silica dust). OUR CASE!
The prevention service must have at least two of the preventive specialties or disciplines. The others will be arranged with third-party prevention services.

EXTERNAL PREVENTION SERVICE
Accredited specialized entities such as preventative prevention services must have the facilities, materials and human resources which allow them to adequately carry out the preventive activity.
SPAs must embody the preventive specialties or disciplines of Occupational medicine, occupational safety, Industrial hygiene, as well as Ergonomics and applied psychosociology
